“You have been invited" - are these words you dread to hear? Choosing a wedding gift is as diversified today as couples are. What to give matters a lot to some people, to others it is merely a kind gesture and even to some a mild inconvenience!
Of course gift giving has changed with each generation. What was given even fifty years ago has changed due to all the modern advances and conveniences that we have today. Many gifts were “home made” because of economic restrictions and gift made by hand have a certain sentimentality attached to them. “This was made by my great grandmother or by my Uncle John” means there was love and time spent in considering the gift and the recipient. Even today the hand made jewelry, quilts, paintings may be very much appreciated. The older generation has an appreciation for the time that has gone into making the gift.
